Battery warning light and brake warning light on.

That battery light coming on is caused by a defective alternator. It monitors voltage in the charging system. When voltage drops to a certain level, it will trigger the light. The car runs off the battery, and the battery is re-charged by the alternator. When the alt. fails, charge level (voltage) drops and kicks the light on.

You should check to make sure your alternator is charging. I'd expect to see 13.85 volts while idling. Check connections from the alternator and fuses as well.
