headlights turn on and off by itself with car off and locked

Sounds like you may have some kind of anti-theft system problem. Do you have an aftermarket alarm installed? If so,, I'd remove that first. If not, you'll want to check all components related to doors been open (door ajar switches) and related components as one may be setting that off.
