Stuck thermostat symptoms

Fail safe thermostats normally get stuck in the open position, the engine take too long to get to normal operating temperature, engine control module compares the time it take to get to the thermostat threshold and triggers the check engine light on, none fail safe thermostat normally get stuck in the close position overheating the engine.
