What is your question?
When I open the trunk it just pops and then I need to lift it all the way up and seems like it weighs 30lbs! I just got this vehicle a little over a month ago! If I need new struts what do you think the cost would be! Thanks, Norman

if you have to lift it up,does the trunk stay up?or does it slam shut if you let go,maybe cracken noggen or cut fingers off if hit in the right place?
It does stay up but just barely! And that's after doing a 30lb push up from the bottom to the top! And yes I really don't trust it! Because when I close the trunk it comes down with a loud slam!! Thanks, Norman
well, you know they will only get worse, and not better.i had a similar problem with my truck hood.it stayed up one day, when it had not been and i had my head over in the engine area, and just had moved when it slammed shut.my hood is aluminum and it weighs way more than 30 lbs coming down!so i did it the red-neck way,for a bit,cut me a HOOD PROP(CAR WASH BRUSH HANDLE,ADJUSTABLE).so i checked on the hood struts at parts houses, and they were around $40.00 each.i jumped on e-bay and searched, got BOTH for $21.50 LIFETIME WARRANTY,free shipping.it will be a year this coming WED.they work like they are on steroids!yours are $86.00 each, maybe gold in yours?here is the part number on yours, for parts house, but if you wanna search on e-bay,this number should cross over, (E96287).good luck.
Thanks Stevie, I saw them on Ebay for $30 a pair so I'm in! Now how difficult are they to put in is the next question!
mine had the ball sockets, and i believe yours do also.doing one side at a time,LESS than 5 minutes for both.once i put one of them on,it held the hood up very well, and i was parked on an incline.easy!
Thanks Stevie,, I see they are ball and socket so I guess its just a pop off pop on thing!
yes, that's correct.very easy.i used a small flat-head screwdriver to pull little clip back to release the top, then it just pulls right off.
The rear one on my is going to be the bugger! On my 2005 Hyundai XG350 it's all the way in the back and I might have to remove the trunk coverings!
copy and paste the link and look at it,may help. How do you change the trunk lid shocks on a 2005 hyundai … www.justanswer.com › Hyundai
Thanks Stevie, I have used them before to hard wire my radar detector to my power line on the moon roof. For this little job I think I can save the $20 they charge and just take the advice of great people like you!!!
no,you don't have to PAY!this is someone who asked the same question about the trunk struts and it was answered.you don't PAY anything.it has a couple of pictures also...
Cool I'll give it a try thanks for the advise!!
