Hello, Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. The door ajar light is a big clue, letting you know that one of the switches on the doors is not showing the door is closed when it is. This is causing the light to stay on, draining the battery as you've stated. The trick is learning which door is causing the issue - it will almost certainly be one door. There will either be a door switch separate, or it could be located in the latch itself. Although the affected component should be replaced to resolve the problem, I have had some limited success lubricating the switch (either on its own or within a latch) with WD-40 or silicone lubricant -- then after opening and closing the door several times the switch begins to work again. This is the only thing you could try without enlisting the help of a local technician near you.
