no heat fan runs but when you turn it to heat the light for the ac lights up

Is there air blowing and the air is cold? Or do you just hear the fan and not feeling anything? If it's the former, could still be air in the cooling system. If it's the latter, check the intake cowl for built up leaves and stuff that could be blocking airflow, also check the cabin filter. Beyond that, it's not uncommon for the control unit on these cars to have issues, there's been several reports of flakey electrics or melted connectors.
