WHAT does it mean when the scanner showed the turbo charger sensor is low?

the check engine light was on , I take it to an auto mechanic to check with a scanner which reads the turbo charger sensor is low.
My car has front end damage and the hood , grill and bumper cover was deformed. I was waiting for the insurance to authorize the repair and was told not to open the hood yet or it may not able to close not safely driving it. It drives normally now with repair work.
What makes this problem better or worse?
