What is your question?
I once purchased a new 1959 Rambler which had no oil filter. 6 cyl eng and 3 speed manual. I changed the oil every 3k miles and drove the car until 1966, mainly in Iowa and MN. At the end of this period the engine had plenty of pep and worked just fine. Other parts of the car were rusting away, however. Do we really need to change our oil filter every time we change oil? I'd like to know what studies may have been done in this regard. Thanks.

No you don't have to change the oil or the filter if you don't want to. After all it's your car do what you want with it. as far as studies on oil and filters. The internet is your friend there are many such studies out there. But I believe the best advice is change the oil and filter as often as the owners manual specifies. A Purolator Filter at my local parts place is only $3.49 so I figure why not replace it, it cheap preventive maintenance.
