Hello - that sounds really challenging! Some sensor or radar or camera and saying something and asking the vehicle to stop. I would suggest testing for chassis and powertrain trouble codes first – since you have an undesired "ESC off" light on as well as the check engine light. There will be codes and failure information present. This will be key in at least getting you started down the path of troubleshooting. Do not delay in getting this tested -- it's likely quite resolvable but you'll need some assistance to sort it out. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me
Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Whoa! That sounds scary and dangerous! This symptom(s) could be due to a malfunction in the system or a sensor issue. The ESC OFF light being off indicates that the electronic stability control system is enabled, but there may be a fault with one of its components, triggering the automatic braking. Having the codes checked is the first step. That will point you or the technician in the right direction. If you have any other questions feel free to call us at 877-913-1554!
