What is your question?
This has happened twice and the mechanic cannot recreate the problem. Driving along on the expressway at 65mph and all of a sudden, I lose acceleration down to a crawl and the engine light comes on. After the car sits a bit, I can go again but very slowly. After the car sits overnight, the problem is gone. What filters or sensors could be causing this problem.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Letting the car sit overnight makes it better
How long has your 2003 Hyundai Sonata had this problem?

Hello, Dave here - serving the RepairPal community since 2010. Although I cannot tell you exactly what is happening with your Hyundai, I can make some suggestions that will lead you on the path towards resolving your concern. The first thing to note is that you are sharing that a engine light appears when the problem is happening. This is a great clue. When an engine light turns on, assuming it is the yellow engine light, a diagnostic trouble code or DTC is set in the memory of the engine's processor. This is available for a technician to retrieve and learn more about the area the failure occurred in. By retrieving this trouble code, there will be information that will lead towards an area to focus attention on. It might not be a direct easy diagnosis, but it will give clues that are very important. Your failure is likely due to a problem with fuel delivery, ignition spark, air to the intake manifold, transmission operation or throttle operation. It can also be any combination of those areas. The positive thing is that you can get the problem to occur, so it should be relatively easy for a technician too monitor the vehicle components that are operating and determine what is wrong.
