Sounds like a problem with a fuel tank purge or vent valve. Not sure if their website information goes back that far but Hyundai as a car manufacturer put a lot of free technical information and workshop manuals on line for Hyundai owners. Check out www.hmaservice.com lots of great information. There is a company that independent auto repair shops get their information from, this same information is available inexpensively for people that work on their own cars.. The information is year make and model specific, covering repair procedures, torque specifications, fluid capacities and specifications, service bulletins, component locations, wiring diagrams ect.... Alldata is very easy to navigate http://bit.ly/AllData_Repair_Manuals_Online
There is likely a restriction in the vent for the gas tank. Some models have had issues with the filler pipe that the gas goes through to get to the tank. Some disassembly will be needed to isolate the source of the restriction.
I had the same happen to me twice. Fuel gun would click as it tank was full. Once I got in my car would see tank was only 3/4 full.
