What is your question?
I recently bought a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe with 57k miles. I was cruising at about 75 mph on an interstate. All seemed fine. I experienced a sudden (very scary) jolt as if I had hit something. All of the dash indicator lights came on briefly but went off right away. The car never stopped running, but I pulled over to the side of the road to see if I had indeed hit something. There was no indication that I had. When I got back in the car and resumed my trip, I noticed that the cruise control had turned off. I reset it and it still worked. I continued the 150 miles home and have had no problems since. The check engine light never came on. Local mechanic shop hooked it up to computer to see if there were any codes but there were none. What on earth might have happened? I've never experienced anything like this and hope to never experience it again.
What makes this problem better or worse?

That's 'indicative' of engine momentarily turning off then right back on - as indicated by the dash lights - which would indeed "jolt" the vehicle rather abruptly .. Now the tricky part is finding the cause.. Unfortunately, unless the actual failure is occurring - OR - diagnostic trouble codes are generated and stored - it's going to be very difficult to diagnose - there's just too many possibilities. However i can say with a great deal of certainty that the problem lies some-where within the 'ignition system' ..
Additionally - the failure will be related to the primary ignition system as opposed to the secondary - that will narrow it down somewhat. Good luck!
'IF' an online guess will help - I'm thinking the ignition 'switch' is the culprit - but that's only a guess - which only *hands-on* testing can prove..
