Does hand cranking the engine to set the timing without the belt on damage the valves?

there is no 1.7L for your vehicle.either a 2.4L or a 2.7L.either way both engines are Interference engines! if the belt broke,then i would suspect it was being driven or running when it happened,so damage has most likely already been done anyway.
