Fueling my car.

What is your question?

When fueling my car, the pump shuts off constantly and I have to wait for the fuel to drain into the tank. It acts like the tank is full even when it's empty. I had a mechanic check the fuel hoses and he claims that they are clear. What is the problem?

Habitually 'topping off' fuel tank when refueling can eventually lead to EVAP system failures.. Vent valve / solenoid is suspect. Hands-on testing by qualified personnel using the proper scan tool will be required..
