What is your question?
I have a 2018 ELANTRA replaced the shocks struts and linkage. Every time you go over a man cover or a pothole or a bump of any kind in the road the right hand side sounds like a metallic crashing noise. I’ve also noticed when you turn off the car, it sounds like children playing with balls in the car. It’s kind of low pitch. It’s hard to videotape. I don’t know what to do. The mechanic said oh yeah well the left-hand ones were bent when we put them in so why did you put them in the begin with? Should’ve just re-ordered the parts and B why didn’t you check the right so it’s been like this for almost a year and right after it was repaired twice any ideas?

Hello, I’m Pete from the Car Genius team at RepairPal. I’m sorry you’re dealing with this concern on your 2018 Hyundai Elantra. Based on the information provided it sounds like you have some suspension noise concerns that have appeared after recent repair work to the suspension system and that the repair work that was performed may not have been satisfactory with some bent parts being installed. What I recommend is to have the suspension shocks/struts inspection to identify any that are bent or damaged that need to be replaced. I also recommend having the sway bar linkage and strut mounts checked to see if any of those are damaged in anyway as well as ball joints and control arm bushings. All of these can create this type of noise/concern. The noise you are hearing when the vehicle is turned off can be difficult to try and diagnose from here, a noise like that may be related to something like the engine cooling fan powering down making an odd noise, AC noises (if your AC is or was being used) or other possible causes. These should all be checked into as soon as possible to prevent further damage and to make sure there are no safety concerns. If you need more advice, have any further questions about your vehicle, or want to connect with one of our RepairPal Certified shop's near you, we’re here to help.
