Hello, are you certain that it is a sensor that is failed? A check oil indicator could be evidence of an engine oil level or oil pressure concern. Testing should be performed to find out if there is a problem with the level or pressure of the oil, or if in fact just the sensor itself has failed. If you confirm that the sensor is what has failed, it is only a gauge or visual evidence component, and does not affect functional operation of the vehicle safely. If you discover that the engine oil level or pressure is not what it should be, then you definitely do not want to drive the vehicle. Further testing would be needed.
