Can a flat tire cause issues on ball bearings?

A tire went flat. Not sure how. But when I got home the tire was flat. The next day my moms husband tried to replaace the tire and the jack went out causing the car to fall. When my mom took the car in, they said she needed to get her ball bearings replaced. Can that be due to the flat tire or would there be another reason, like the fact that the car fell without a wheel on it?
