Why is my car making a ticking sound?

Hello, You may be hearing one of many things, but the most common is ticking lifters. Check your oil to ensure it is full, but not overly full, and listen for where the tick is coming from. In all likelihood you are either just low on oil, or the lifters need to be inspected for proper clearance. Another tick people hear is a small exhaust leak, normally at the exhaust manifold. Of course, if the ticking does not dissipate when you top off the oil, or change the oil (depending on when the last oil change was completed), you will likely need an inspection of the vehicle to determine the cause.
