What is your question?
My timing belt snapped and engine died. I have 162000 on my car. Will replacing the engine and timing belt be worth it? It is 3500 with labor cost included. The mechanic found an engine with 62000 miles on it.

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! That's a tough spot to be in but honestly the math isn't terrible here. A replacement engine with 62k miles is essentially giving your car a second life, and if the rest of the vehicle is in decent shape mechanically and the body is solid, $3,500 all in with labor could absolutely be worth it. It might make sense to have the shop perform a maintenance check before replacing the engine to make sure there aren't any looming large repairs in the near future. The alternative is a car payment which will likely cost you more than that in just a few months. The key questions to consider are how the rest of the car looks, no major rust or other expensive issues waiting in line, and whether you trust the shop doing the work. Getting a warranty on that replacement engine would also be something worth asking about before signing off!
