A mechanic shop said I needed to replace the passenger side lower control arm on my 2007 Hyundai Elantra GLS. What is this and what part do I need to get?

This is not a "do it yourself" repair unless you have proper equipment and facility to do the repair. A lower control arm is a major suspension component joining the steering knuckle and the subframe, allowing the vehicle to move up and down while maintaining tire contact to the road, in conjunction with the struts / shock absorbers. You need professional assistance, seek a shop near you.
