My issue is when you are ready to turn off the car and remove the key it doesn't

This just started last night and still happening. Really inconvenienced to have to disconnect the battery just to remove the key.

How long has your 2014 Hyundai Elantra GT had this problem?

That is an inconvenience - I’d have qualified personnel do some *hands-on* testing.

Probably got something to do with the PARK position interlock.. You know - got to be in PARK before key can be turned off and removed... Disconnecting battery defeats this interlock ., May be gummy down in there from coffee / soda spilled into shifter cavity - which turns viscous with age.. That sort of stuff... Good luck!
