Getting very poor mileage...is this a problem with this model car?

Hello, fuel economy can vary greatly due to many scenarios. 14 mpg may very well be "normal" for city driving for this and many cars. Typically on a 2006 and newer vehicle, any concern that causes fuel inefficiency is measured and will cause a check engine light to come on. I would suggest doing a good evaluation of complete fuel economy, not just that which you notice "around town".
