What is your question?
I had of moderate severity a 12 o'clock front point of impact in my Hyundai Accent 2022 SE when it at 34k miles. Was well maintained before. Took it to a collision center and they fixed it. After it was given back to me, an engine light appeared (which didn't exist before). They told me the engine light was not related to collision and I could keep driving it - but would have to get it fixed eventually. I kept driving the car and after a few months I began to hear whistling noises. Took it to local dealership. Dealership wrote: Codes P22700, O2 Sensor Stuck Lean. Was the collision center lying to me or was engine light and subsequent problems not related to collision?

Hi, I'm Bogi, one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! That's a really great question and we completely understand your frustration, especially after going through the stress of an accident and repair! The truth is that it's genuinely difficult to say with absolute certainty whether the engine light and subsequent issues were directly caused by the collision without a thorough inspection. However we can say that a front impact of moderate severity could in theory affect exhaust and emissions related components whether directly or through chassis flex and vibration. The fact that the check engine light appeared immediately after the collision and not before is certainly a detail worth noting. However, there is also a very good chance that the timing was coincidental. Without a pre and post collision inspection it can be very hard to prove definitively either way. It may be worth reaching out to your insurance company and requesting that they review whether the collision center's repairs were complete, and consider getting an independent assessment from a qualified shop.
