I get routine oil changes and keep my car up to date. My car is only 7 years old and I don't drive it much.
What makes this problem better or worse?

Hello, a warning light comes on when a fault or failure is detected. This doesn't mean that it's dependent on mileage or anything. Problems and failures can occur at any time. The whole point is that you are informed about the failure, so that you can maintain the best possible safe operation of your vehicle. Once a technician checks the car, testing will reveal what is going on and what steps you may need to take to resolve the concern.
