car stalled on the expressway, had to have towed home, replaced fuel pump,cam and crank timing sensors, no engine lite, baught a code reader, get a po717 code...none of the possible causes suggest this "no start" as a symptom, say it is a problem with transmission input sensor, my question is ..... can this cause the engine not to start ??? all it does is crank,,,,

Hello, P0717 refers to the input speed sensor, for transmission operation. The code would have nothing to do with stalling or not starting.
You sure have replaced a significant amount of parts to no avail. Have you checked engine timing and compression? Is the timing belt intact?
You say "no engine light" but you can't check for a "check engine" light until the engine is running anyway.
Strongly advise to seek guidance from a trained, equipped local technician near you before wasting any more time and money replacing parts that are perfectly fine.
