2008 Hyundai stalls and engine light comes on; Power window/locks won't work

Three times last week my 2008 Hyundai Accent stalled while I was driving. Twice I was able to restart it. but it made a clicking/grinding noise before finally turning over. The third time, it stalled, I could not get it to restart, the engine light came on (not blinking) and my power windows and door locks won't work. Note: I've been having trouble with the power locks/windows not working off and on for a while.
What makes this problem better or worse?
