Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! Whoa! That's super uncool and dangerous! The symptoms your friend is experiencing could be related to several potential issues. A faulty ignition system, a problem with fuel delivery, or a malfunctioning sensor, such as the crankshaft position sensor, could cause the engine to shut off while driving. Pressing the throttle after filling the tank might indicate a problem with the evaporative emissions system or fuel pressure regulator. A qualified mechanic should thoroughly inspect the car to diagnose and address the root cause of these issues. If you have any other questions, please call us at 877-913-1554!
