where is it located on my 2006 hyundai accent? would it cause my check engine light to come on and make my car very hard to start after i get gas?

I don't have any information on where the purge valve is on your car, probably by the fuel tank or under the hood. Find the Evaporative Emissions (carbon) Canister and the purge valve is probably near it. Yes, it would cause the light to go on and may make the car hard to start after fueling due to flooding the canister or engine with fuel, especially if you 'pack' the gas into the tank to get it really full. Get the check engine light checked by a Hyundai or Mitsubishi specialist. The check engine light indicates that the computer has detected a malfunction in the engine/emission control system and has diagnostic codes and data stored which would be essential in diagnosing the problem.
