It sounds like the brake wear indicator is beginning to warn you of low brake lining material. Wear sensors are built onto the brake pads and they will begin to touch the rotors when approximately 2mm of pad material is left. I would recommend you bring your Hyundai Accent in to a qualified technician for a complete brake inspection.
Ive had my 2005 Hyundai Accent for 5 years and purchased it new. I just recently had to replace the entire rear brakes (drums, cylinders, shoes, hardware)...it first started with a squeak I heard when I lifted my foot off the brake pedal. I was told that it may just be dirty and need some lube, but quickly after that my brakes began to squeak and I heard a dragging on the right rear tire so I took it in to be checked. My front brakes were fine, but the rear brakes were shot...told me it was because I do not slam on my brakes (front brakes) but rather slow down slowly (rear brakes)..damned if you do, damned if you don't! I would go and get a free brake inspection. Also...last year Hyundai recalled their 2005 accents to have the brake light switch replaced..which controls the break lights on the car...it went into affect 9/2/09 and I spent over $100 replacing it in 7/09...go figure!
