security light stays on and it wont start

What is your question?

I turn the key and get nothing. the security light stays on and the door chime stays on with the key out. The chime does go off when the door is closed. have noticed while driving sometimes the security light does come on then goes out. Again, it won't even try to start. No click, nothing.

What makes this problem better or worse?
