What is your question?
I just had the fluid in my transmission replaced in my 2019 Ridgeline at the dealership at 57,000 miles. I was informed midway that the fluid was very dark with metal filings and I'd need a "triple flush" at the cost of $215. I already was on the hook for $244 for the fluid change. Way this really necessary?

Hello, I have seen the need for a "triple flush" before -- but honestly, if it's a Honda dealership, it should be a triple "drain and fill", and never a "flush", as Honda says flushes are not acceptable for their vehicles (even though some insist on doing it anyway). A triple drain and fill is often used at Honda dealerships to solve issues related to torque converter vibration when engaging. However, if you have no symptoms, no faults, no warning lights and it's just for maintenance - my personal opinion is that doing the triple drain and fill is not necessary. Naturally, if you have questions you should raise them to the service management of the dealership to get clarity and determine "need" versus recommendations and learn more about the decisions you have to make. By the way - if you service regularly and you have a vibration and the fluid needs changed -- and was changed prior to 57,000 miles for the first time -- Honda powertrain warranty should cover this. If you have no symptoms or concerns, then you'd be on the hook...but I guess...with no problems...why do it...
