What is your question?
The quality of the picture from our rearview camera is not as good as our 2015 Honda Odyssey or our 2021 Honda CRV. It is particularly poor on sunny days. The camera seems to get blinded by the sun. The picture is very cloudy and it is difficult if not impossible to see things (people or cars) when backing out of a parking space.
What makes this problem better or worse?
The amount of sun.
How long has your 2017 Honda Ridgeline had this problem?
7 years

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! It sounds like your Ridgeline's rear camera might be feeling a bit camera-shy on sunny days. Rearview cameras can indeed struggle with glare and bright sunlight, which can wash out the image and make it hard to see. Over time, the camera lens can get dirty, develop a haze, or even take on moisture which makes the problem worse. Give the lens a good cleaning with a soft cloth and a mild cleaner to see if that helps. If the problem persists, it could be the camera itself or its placement. You might also want to check with your Honda dealer to see if there are any updates or known issues with the camera system for your model. If you need any further advice or if you'd like any help finding a trusted RepairPal shop in your area, please feel free to call us at 877-913-1554!
Additionally to Bo's response - some Ridgeline's have a wiring harness concern at to the rear camera. Check this safety recall: https://repairpal.com/recall/22V867000 I do not think this recall affects image quality, but it would still be good to check to see if it has been repaired; it's worth a shot. good luck!
