Hello, the MAP (manifold absolute pressure) sensor and the catalytic converter are two entirely different things. I'm not sure how that was the part you chose to replace when advised about the MAP sensor. Smoking around the charcoal canister sounds odd. You definitely need a physical inspection. Smoke around the glove box area sounds like a possible coolant leak from the heater core possibly.
