Hello, "A" is not a trouble code. It's a "maintenance minder" code. When the "A" comes on, it essentially means it's time to change the engine oil, if it was reset properly the last time the oil change was performed. "A" will alternate with "B" as you continue to drive the vehicle. "B" is an oil and filter change, but also includes more inspections including a brake inspection and a parking brake adjustment. It's a more thorough service for sure. The Honda maintenance minder system, illustrated in your owners manual and maintenance guide (check with the Honda Owner's web site if you haven't looked there yet -- you can sign up and get a free copy if you don't have one -- downloaded), also includes numbers 1-6. In brief: 1 = Tire Rotation 2 = Replace engine air and cabin air filters 3 = Replace transmission fluid and transfer unit fluid (if 4WD) 4 = Replace engine spark plugs, timing belt and perform valve adjustment 5 = Replace engine coolant 6 = Replace rear differential fluid (if 4WD) This is all accurate for a 2011 Pilot -- later in years there are some variances and different additional numbers. Consider also that you need to replace your brake fluid every 3 years -- quite critical for this vehicle and how heavy it is and prone to brakes getting hot. Hope this helps!
