What is your question?
Hello. I have a 2007 Honda Odyssey EX-L with 270k miles. The timing belt tensioner is starting to go and I am getting occasional CEL and misfire codes. This has already been diagnosed. Also, I am now getting VSA light and warning triangle with D light flashing. This also only happens occasionally, most often when I get off the highway. Sometimes the CEL will come on at the same time if it is not already on. The only driveability issue I've noticed is a studdering as I was accellerating up a steep on ramp when the VSA+D light was already on. It was almost like the transmission didn't want to upshift, but it didn't slip it just studdered for a while and then kept accelerating. Someone else suggested that the CEL and misfire codes could cause the computer to disable the VSA, etc. So, my question is, could fixing the timing belt solve all of these problems or is the VSA+D light more likely a separate issue?

Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! You've got quite the light show on your dash there! Your Honda Odyssey's CEL, misfire codes, and VSA/D light flashing can indeed be interconnected. The timing belt tensioner being on its way out is a significant issue. Misfires can occur if the timing belt isn't keeping everything in sync properly, which can trigger the CEL and affect the vehicle's overall performance. The VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) system might react to the engine's misfires by disabling itself, especially if it isn't running smoothly. This can cause the warning triangle and D light to flash, especially during times of stress, like getting off the highway or accelerating on an on-ramp. Fixing the timing belt and tensioner should definitely be your first step. If that bad boy lets go, it could mean replacing an engine! It also could potentially resolve the misfire codes, which might, in turn, stop the VSA and D light from acting up. If the problem persists after addressing the timing belt, then you'll know it's time to dig deeper into the VSA system.
