A/c won't take a charge and the clutch is kicking in but it's not cold and its smells

If your system pressures are too high, the system will purge the excess refrigerant as needed. I must say, if you do not have a certification from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to handle refrigerants -- then don't! Nearly every "do it yourself" mechanic is not qualified or equipped to service air conditioning systems in today's vehicles. It would be best to have a professional evaluate your concern -- it may be a complex issue like an expansion valve (blockage? From what?), but it could be so many other things.
