why does engine surge at 5000 rpm when climbing or in driveway

What is your question?

When driving in the mountains the engine light and TCS light came on as engine started to starve. Ran good otherwise. Replaced air filter and still surges at 5000 rpm when running it in neutral. The diagnostic code says P1259.

My first guess, with a code P1259, is the engine very low on oil. I would check.

That's what Carquest told me. Checked and the oil is fine. The oil light never came on either. It runs great except when the rpm hits 5000. It seems to be starved for gas or maybe air when it acts up. Any other ideas?

Charles could still be right......if the oil pump is what is failing....
