What is your question?
Why did my AC work great one day then the next day nothing. The compressor quit kicking on. Is it because the coolant got to low possibly. But also the ac switch on the dash used to light up when you turned it on but now it don't and the lot up knob directly underneath the ac button now has a short in the light, if you tap the knob (hot/cold knob) the light will come on. Could my AC problem just be an electrical issue connected with that switch/button? The button does seem to still work (pushes in and catches and releases). I'm worried if I take it to a shop they find the most expressive fix and go that route, instead of trouble shooting easier less costly causes.
What makes this problem better or worse?
Nothing changes anything, I bought some coolant but you can't even try to add it if the compressor don't kick on, so that was waste.
How long has your 2013 Honda Fit had this problem?

Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. There are multiple possible causes to what you are explaining. First the compressor relay could be intermittently not allowing compressor operation sometimes. The compressor coil may have an electrical issue intermittently. Then, as you mentioned your suspicion about the controls - there could be an issue with the climate controls themselves. And finally, if your condenser fan is not operating properly, the air conditioning system will not blow cold. Check some of these areas if you can, but indeed - you may need to consult a shop near you for help. https://repairpal.com/auto-repair-near-me Click the link to find some shops near you who can help out!
