What is the drive cycle for my car

Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Too hard to answer a general statement. I will say that most monitor setting drive cycles are successful when the vehicle has between 1/4 and 3/4 tank of fuel and the vehicle is driven with cruise control locked in at about 57 mph for 10-15 minutes at a time. This is not exclusive - but it's a good start. You cannot slow down or speed up - must maintain steady speed. Have a diagnostic tool available to see your progress. Hi, I'm Bogi, one of the auto experts on RepairPal's Car Genius team! A drive cycle is essentially a specific set of driving conditions that allows your vehicle's onboard diagnostic system to run all of its self tests and reset its readiness monitors, which is commonly needed after a battery disconnect or after clearing trouble codes. On your 2010 Honda Fit the general drive cycle involves a combination of cold starts, steady highway speed driving, gradual acceleration and deceleration, and some idling periods to allow all of the various system monitors to complete their checks. In general terms Honda's drive cycle typically starts with a cold start where the engine is allowed to warm up at idle, followed by a mix of city style stop and go driving, then some steady speed highway driving at around 55-60 mph for several minutes, and then a gradual deceleration without braking. The full cycle can sometimes take multiple drive sessions to complete all monitors depending on conditions, and certain monitors like the EVAP monitor can be particularly stubborn and may require very specific conditions including a certain fuel level and ambient temperature to complete. Because the exact sequence and conditions can be quite specific and doing it incorrectly can mean having to start over, we'd honestly recommend having a qualified shop handle this, especially if you're trying to get the vehicle ready for an emissions test. They can monitor the readiness status in real time with a scan tool and confirm when all monitors are complete.
