Why is there a delete plate where the EGR valve goes on my 06 Element EX 2.4L?
What is your question?
I'm replacing my Catalytic Converter and I wanted to clean the EGR valve but there is a delete plate where the valve goes. Did something else replace the EGR valve?
RepairPal Certified shops can diagnose and repair your 2006 Honda Element. They provide transparent pricing with a minimum 12-month or 12,000-mile warranty on repairs and services.
This vehicle never had an EGR valve and does not utilize one for operation of the vehicle and emissions control. There is an EGR passage, but what is your symptom?
I'm not imagining a necessary cleaning of anything before installing a new catalytic converter.
Your converter, if failed, likely failed due to excessive consumption of fuel due to an air intake leak of some sort, or an engine misfire.
Hard to know the whole story from your question, but all that to say: I don't know of anything that needs "cleaned" before installing a catalytic converter.
I was just wondering what to clean or replace before I put my new Cat on. Thanks

Thanks Dave. I did replace the PCV valve. It was clogged up. The Element has 140 thousand miles on it. I should have changed it a long time ago.
