Hello, over a year ago I got the CVT and rear differential fluid changed on my 21 Honda CRV. Not too long after, I noticed that it felt like the wheels weren't turning as smoothly as before (I don't know if the two things are related). It just feels like I am getting some drag/resistance, not terribly, but enough that myself and passengers have noticed. The feeling reminds me of bad ball bearings in a bike wheel hub that just won't turn smoothly. I paid the dealer for a diagnostic and they couldn't find any issues, even had the service manager drive it. He said that it felt like a tire was maybe slightly out of balance, but was "safe to drive". I recently got new tires and had an alignment done, hoping it would make a difference, but it still feels the same way. I notice it slightly more at highway speeds, and at times I feel a slight vibration in my seat at all speeds. I have kept up with all maintenance, it just hit 45,000 miles, and I am the original owner. Thank you for your time.

Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. It's so hard to know the nuances between what you're feeling and have always felt versus what a technician at a repair shop who only sees your vehicle once evaulates. You know your vehicle, and you feel something is "off". As far as CVT and differential fluid - my questions would be - where did you have it done? What fluids were used? Did someone "flush" or use a machine to do the work, or was it the factory required "drain and fill" service? Were additives used? There's nothing special otherwise. If you have a vibration, there are things to look at, but it doesn't sound like that's your concern. Respond with who did the maintenance work and what fluids were used and I can respond further.
Hi Dave, Thank you for your response. I had the services done at a Honda dealership, and it was the drain and fill service for both the CVT and differential. I assume they used the correct fluids since it is a Honda dealership, and I am not sure if any additives were used, there is nothing extra listed on the service record. When I thought if felt off a few weeks after service, they checked the fluid levels for those two things and inspected the area and couldn't find anything. When I went back a few months later for an oil change, I told them I still felt some slight drag/resistance, so they test drove it and couldn't find/duplicate the issue. When I got an oil change in March, I paid for a diagnostic, and they drove it as well as did a inspection, "ball joints, outer tie rod, axle, etc were great. Wheels moved freely and no calipers are stuck". There was no mention of wheel bearings, so not sure if that is something they would have checked. I was advised that I should probably replace my tires in the near future (which I knew I was getting due for), and they noted uneven tire wear/feathering. Just a few weeks ago, I got new tires at one place and went back to the dealer for an alignment. The alignment printout showed only the right rear toe out of specifications, everything else was fine. That was surprising since I had never had an alignment done. I thought maybe some measurements being out of alignment and/or tires that were out of balance might be the reason(s) that I felt something was off as well as explain the uneven tire wear. Regardless, new tires and an alignment have not seemed to fix/alleviate the issue. It seems like I feel it more in the left front area, but that could definitely be because that is just what wheel/area I am closest to. Sorry for the long reply. I look forward to your response. Mike
