Hi, this is Bo, an auto expert on RepairPal's Car Genius team! If your CR-V isn't making a peep when you turn the key, but the accessory mode works, we might be looking at a starter issue. Since it's worse when the engine is hot, it could be heat soak affecting the starter or solenoid. First, check your battery connections and make sure they’re tight and clean. A weak battery can sometimes power accessories but fail to crank the engine. Next, listen for any clicks when you try to start the car. No sound at all might indicate a faulty starter or ignition switch. A quick tap on the starter (with gentle love this time! See the previous Jeep question) while someone turns the key can sometimes help diagnose a bad starter. If that doesn’t do the trick, it’s best to have a pro take a look to avoid any further frustration.
