have you seen AWD pumps going bad?

Yes, I have seen rear differentials fail on these vehicles. Incidentally, you should be changing your fluid at 15,000 miles first, then 45,000, 75,000, 105,000... The failure does not mean, necessarily, a lack of maintenance though. It might be helpful -- if you are loyal to your local dealership -- to see if Honda will help out. Many times, they help loyal original owners with some repair costs for major things like this. Just a guess and hope, but worth checking into.
