Gas gauge says empty and low fuel light blinks even though tank is full

You will most likely need to remove the pump and inspect the sending unit. It tends to wear the feeling leg that runs across the potentiometer which send the signal to your gauge [or PCM] to let you know the tank fuel level. This tiny leg tends to lose contact with the sensor wall and creates the symptom you are experiencing. If you are not mechanically inclined, DO NOT go messing with this sensitive instruments as you may not be able to repair it yourself. Have a qualified technician check this out for you as most likely this will be your cause although with the proper diagnostic computer you can probably see the sensor PID on the screen and it will tell you if it is reading or not. If it is, then the issue is elsewhere and you will need a proper diagnosis either way. Best of luck!
