Hi - Dave here, contributing to RepairPal and providing expert advice since 2010. Although this is a highly abnormal situation, i'm guessing some salt contamination from Massachusettes winters have deteriorated the springs. It's not the mileage - it's the age and exposure to the elements i'm guessing that is a concern. Did you have a further concern?
