What is your question?
I have owned a 2008 Accord for 10 years without ever questioning the sound of the motor, as it was quiet. I recently purchased a used 2009 CRV with 158,000 miles. With a clean/solid maintenance history, I purchased it from my local Honda dealer, as it had been serviced regularly at the dealership. Not being familiar with the CRV, I didn't notice how much different the engine noise was until driving it a few days. It has a definite "tick" in the motor, slow and even when idling then speeds up consistently with acceleration, slowing as I let off the accelerator. It is a soft yet VERY noticable constant tick that sounds like a diesel or sewing machine. I have been told that this particular engine just sounds this way. The valves were adjusted about 25,000 miles ago and seems to shift/run well. Not sure if it's me not used to it or if it's because I'm terrified I made a huge mistake trusting what I was told, but would like to know if other owners would describe this engine like this?
What makes this problem better or worse?
Ticks consistently, no matter cold/warm.

Hello, you will hear a certain amount of fuel injector ticking noise from this 2.4L 4 cylinder engine. But what is "normal" or "abnormal" is something that you'll have to assess by having folks in the field hear it in person. There's obviously a difference between a fuel injector clicking and a valve train ticking or a base engine tapping. I understand your concern; comparing your CR-V to the Accord you have may not be reasonable since some components as well as sound deadening may be different. I would definitely recommend someone familiar with Honda's have a fresh listen.
Thank you for the input. It's much appreciated. :)
