What is your question?
Hi. So I gotta 2008 Honda CR-V. My key is old and worn out electrical tape wrapped all over it, not secure in the key pad. 9 days ago the key wouldn't turn in the ignition. I installed a new ignition switch today and still cannot get it to turn. The steering wheel is locked in left position and I cannot put it in neutral. Do I need to get it towed somewhere to install a whole new ignition or get a new key. Dont want to get it towed if it's just the key but also don't know if I need new ignition bc the key not being secure finally messed up the ignition lock. If anyone has had similiar issues any insights would be appreciated. Thanks
How long has your 2008 Honda CR-V had this problem?
Over a week

Hello, did you already instal the new key cylinder? Or just the electrical ignition switch? The key cylinder should come with keys that work with them, which then need to be programmed to work with your vehicle, and perhaps be modified to use with to also unlock door cylinders. Did they replace the lock mechanism? If replaced, the keys that come with the mechanism will not one the door lock cylinder without modifications. Hello, is it possible the oil change that was performed was "messy" - meaning, oil was splashed upon adding to the engine causing it to get onto hot engine parts? This is one thought. A dipstick o-ring or other leak at a related component is another thought. Hands on evaluation is needed to see first hand what is going on; theory and guesses can't help much.
