Made a loudclunking noise when turning a/c on

6 months ago on my 2005 Honda Cr-v this loud clunking noise started when turning on A/C. Felt as if it was going to stall and engine shook. Now it doesn't blow cold air out but the noise has stopped???

What makes this problem better or worse?

Engine is warm
