What is your question?
Hi there, I would really appreciate some help please. My Honda CR-V 2002 broke down a month ago after having some issues for a few weeks before. Just before breaking down it had no power, would start and then after a while conk out/stall and if I reduced my speed at all or stopped, it would conk out too. The AA ran a diagnostics on it on the ride side and sent me the report which had 4 error codes including camshaft and crankshaft sensors. I have replaced both the camshaft position sensors and the crankshaft sensor and now 3 of the codes have gone but there is still one remaining - the camshaft position sensor (despite replacing them!!). I'm just wondering if the 2 camshaft sensors are actually the same or do I need to get another part/sensor for one of them?? Also, which one is 'A' and which one is 'B'? Also, if I buy another sensor and that doesn't work, does anyone know what else it could be?? Thank you in advance, Take care.
How long has your 2002 Honda CR-V had this problem?
A few months in total.

Hello, Can you get the actual trouble codes that were pulled? If replacing both cam and the crank position sensors does not correct the issue, you may have anything from bad electrical connections, damage to one or more wires for one of the three circuits, a bad VTEC controller or actuator (variable valve timing), or even a bad engine control module. What I'm getting at is that there are too many possibilities to go about without diagnosing, you will probably end up spending more on parts than you would on diagnostics.
@https://repairpal.com/users/3d371/casey40510 Hi there, I have had to sign up again because it wouldn't accept my password! Thank you for your reply :-) The codes that came up initially are:- Engine control - 10N / Engine control PGM-Fi 3.0 Status :P1279 - Valve lift control (bank 2). Error Message : Faulty. Error static. Status :P0175 - Mixture correction (bank 2). Error Message : Mixture rich. Error static. Status :P0341 - Camshaft sensor / crankshaft sensor. Error Message : Synchronisation error. Error static. The only code that comes up now is:- P0341 - Camshaft sensor Thank you!
Hey, sorry for the long delay. After replacing the sensor, that code still coming up could mean a defective sensor, a bad reluctor ring (or sludge buildup), or damage to the circuit (wires from the engine control module to the crankshaft position sensor). Check the wires first, make sure there is little to no resistance between the sensor and ECM, then make sure the connector is good, not corroded, and installed correctly. There are methods on youtube for testing the sensor, but you could also just exchange it under warranty as a faulty part. Finally, look inside the hole for the sensor when it is removed, see what the reluctor ring looks like. If it is nasty and sludgy, or otherwise not nice and clean besides typical oil stain, the sensor may not be picking up the rotation of the reluctor ring. An engine crankcase flush may help if the reluctor ring is gummed up, but damage will require replacement.
Thank you so much for this!! I really appreciate it. I’ll give those things a go and let you know :-) Thanks again!
