What is your question?
I bought a 1997 Honda CRV that has been sitting for 8 months. I just got a oil change and needed a new oil filter. This is my second time driving the vehicle and I have noticed that oily smell coming from the engine. so I looked at my cool and hot and notice that it was hot, overheating. Before I drove today I checked for leaks no leaks even the first time I drove there are no leaks I'm trying to figure out could my radiator cap be bad or thermostat
How long has your 1997 Honda CR-V had this problem?
I just noticed the problem

This could be anything at this point and you shouldn't drive it overheating. Could be the thermostat, the engine fan, bad head gasket, bad radiator, etc. You can check and see if the fan is working but outside of that you will need a complete inspection. If you don't normally work on car then use this link to find a good shop near you. https://repairpal.com/repair-shops Alex
